Maria Laura Muniz
I am an Argentinian artist living in New Zealand for more than seven years now and I am based in Clyde, Central Otago.
I have always been creative, or did something related to art in different forms, from an early age. Pottery, singing, playing guitar, drawing and painting... As an adult I chose painting as a form of expression and with the intention to create something beautiful to the eye. Although I always did it as a hobby, I tried to do it as much as possible because it gave me joy. But life sometimes gets complicated or too busy and especially during my first years living in New Zealand everything evolved around adapting to my new place and my new life. But it was when I moved to Central Otago that I felt inspired by my surroundings in such a strong way that starting painting again became a necessity, this time trying to do it full time and in a more professional manner, learning new techniques and the use of different materials. And most of all enjoying it every step of the way.
